Nur die Hardcore Cineasten wissen das der Titel eine Anspielung an das Lied von Paul Williams ist, welches mehrfach, aber insbesondere in der Schlusseinstellung von „Thunderbolt and Lightfoot“ ertönt. Dort, als die beiden im weissen Cadillac Cabrio es scheinbar geschafft haben. Aber Lightfoot hat es eben nicht geschafft, er stirbt neben Thunderbolt auf dem Beifahrersitz. Dann verharrt die Kamera, der Cadillac zieht auf den Highway und die malerische hügelige Szenerie Montanas nimmt den am Horizont verschwindenden Cadillac auf. Grandios. Nie gab es einen besseren Film über eine Männerfreundschaft.
